When families arrive at St. Jude, many are surprised to learn that the hospital not only provides treatment for their cancer-stricken child but also other amenities for a family in crisis: food, transportation, even a place to stay.
When Peter arrived, he and his family were placed in Target House, the home-away-from-home for St. Jude patients that was constructed by Thanks and Giving partner Target. Target House provides two-bedroom apartments for families needing to stay longer than three months in Memphis while their child receives treatment at St. Jude. "They afford this great opportunity for families to come and stay free of charge," said Peter's father, Jeff. "We have a two-bedroom apartment that's given to us basically to stay and take care of our sick child."
St. Jude strives to provide families with everything they need so they can concentrate on helping their child fight for life.
